As promised, here are a few more tips from the No. 1 weight loss show-

1) A Peppemint Twist-
Former Contestant- Tara Costa, uses peppermint tea to quell cravings.
Why peppermint tea? The peppermint leaf compound menthofuran signals
fullness in the brain's fullness center. Drink it hot or cold.
Not a fan of peppermint tea? Drink more water or eat an apple
before a meal.
2) Switch Up The Workouts-
Tired of walking? Sick of the treadmill? Use your DVD player and put on an
aerobics, dance, or yoga video. Switching up your routine
allows you to use different muscles, prevents injury and helps
you from becoming bored by the "same old thing."
3) Eat Before You Eat-
Simply stated: eat a salad, or an apple or some soup, before a meal. Eating a water-based food
like soup or salad will help you eat 20% fewer calories overall at lunch or dinner.
4) More Vitamin D-
The vitamin has been in the news ( a lot) of late, getting more D is essential to
weight loss. How? It stabilizes blood sugar to prevent cravings and overeating.
Aim for 2,000 IUs a day. Look for a good quality vit. D at Amazon.com Or get
15 mins. of Sun everyday (without sunscreen).
5) Get Online-
After the contestants leave, they won't have Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper
to push and motivate them. That's okay, recent research says that going online
to a site like Sparkpeople.com is a great way to connect with those in the same
weightloss boat as you. The people on this site will push you, exchange
recipes with you and hold you accountable, just like Jillian and Bob.
6) Eat Sorbet-
Is Ice Cream your downfall? Make a lighter version courtesy of the Biggest
Loser- In a food processor or blender, blend 2 cups of frozen raspberries,
or strawberries or blueberries, add 3 tbsps. of orange or apple juice,
add a smidgen of cinnamon, lemon or vanilla extract. Blend until
smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary. Garnish with fresh mint
for decoration. Serve immediately.
