The 7 Worst Obesity-Causing Foods!
Bathing suit season is only weeks away, are you still eating your favorite foods?
Well, they may be bringing comfort to your soul, but what are they doing to
your waistline, heart and eyesight?
Look below for the top 7 offending foods that cause and keep you obese.
The 7 Offensive Foods!
1) White Foods-
Bread, snack cakes (at gas stations) crackers, pasta
and coffee shop pastries.
Made with refined flour, loads of sugar and other additives that
offer little nutritional value. They also cause blood sugar spikes
that keep you weighing more than you want, damage eyesight and
raise blood pressure to dangerous levels.
If you must have bread look for 100% whole wheat and if you crave a
brownie, make your own with all-natural ingredients. Go to google and
type in Rocco DiSpirito's brownie recipe.
Another favorite in American households. French fries and chips
are cooked in lots of oil at high temperatures , have salt added to
them and are usually eaten with other high-fat foods.
Plus, the salt may also cause you crave more sugary drinks like soda. (see below)
If you must have fries, soak them in cold water for an
hr. or overnight to lower the glycemic index, and bake in the oven.
Or use more lower glycemic sweet potatoes.
3) Fried Chicken-
Like potatoes, usually fried in lots of oil and coated with white flour,
making it a double whammy. Another downside, saving the oil and
reusing it at a later time. Bake your chicken and use a whole wheat flour
as a coating.
A small piece of "good dark chocolate a day is okay, but handfuls of M & Ms,
raisinets or jelly beans are a disaster for your waistline. High glycemic
foods like candy cause spikes in blood sugar, putting you at risk for
diabetes and heart disease and of course of weight gain.
Diet and Regular. Diet may contain artificial sweetners that cause cravings
for other foods and regular soda can cause spikes in blood sugar and
cause more serious health problems like thinning bones, hearing loss,
acne and diabetes.
Buy seltzer and add some organic juice, head to Whole Foods and buy
some healthy brands of juice or break out the juicer.
Drink it alone and it's a wonderful health food, but have a Latte or some
other conconction at your favorite coffee shop and you're putting your
health at risk. Like some of the other foods listed, a double latte is usually
accompanied with a pastry or scone, gauranteeing you a lifetime of "big pants."
Captain Crunch, Cocoa Puffs and Kix may seem like good foods
for children, but the additives, sugars and dyes make it a disastrous
choice in terms of weight control. Make sure to read labels or stick with
plain oatmeal and add some fruit.
That's It- If you have a food that you think we missed,
just send it along. Thanks!
