1) Eat More E's-
Eating foods with vitamin E and not taking the supplement-give you all eight forms of vitamin E at once. These antioxidants are 40 times more effective when taken as a team than when taken solo-helping to cut your risk of lung cancer in half.
Foods with vitamin E- sunflower seeds, almonds, peanut butter (natural) or wheat germ.
2) Protect Cells-
Spinach is your go-to vegetable to lower your risk of lung cancer and to really make it effective- add some tomatoes. Tomatoes-rich in Lycopene is best absorbed when eaten with a little fat. So, eat a few slices of whole-wheat pizza, topped with tomato sauce, some spinach and some low-fat cheese.
3) Reduce Inflammation-
With apples. Apples (especially the skin) contain inflammation-fighting nutrients that can reduce lung cancer rates by 60%, while boosting resistance to pnuemonia and bronchitis.
4) Heal Tissues-
Eat oranges to heal the damaged lung tissue before cancerous changes occur. Oranges get their color from carotenoids, the antioxidants that do the healing. Also, clean and grate a little of the peel into a fruit salad or a smoothie. Fruit peels will help decrease lung cancer rates as well.
5) Drink Cranberry Juice-
Mix a little cranberry juice with vodka to make it much more effective. The cranberry juice delivers natural chemicals called proanthocynidins, which help prevent the spread of precancerous lung cells. And if you're not into alcohol, that's okay. Just have the cranberry juice or eat some fresh cranberries.
6) Exercise-
Yes, exercise makes the list again. Doing it for 20 to 30 minutes a day, improves blood flow to the lungs and speeds healing of damaged tissues. Exercise reduces risks by 45%.
7) A Tip For Smokers-
If you're still smoking- you know what you have to do, but this tip is for anyone getting beat-carotene in supplement form. These suppements speed the growth of abnormal lung cells.
